Tonight's lineup....no Tek or Drew

Here is tonight's lineup...it certainly has a different look given injuries and Tek's day off (with no game tomorrow Tito is getting him two days of rest).

1. Jacoby Ellsbury, RF
2. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
3. David Ortiz, DH
4. Kevin Youkilis, 3B
5. Jason Bay, LF
6. Jed Lowrie, SS
7. Jeff Bailey, 1B
8. Coco Crisp, CF
9. Kevin Cash,
C-- Clay Buchholz, SP

  • I've discussed Tek's absence with a few people and I appear to be in the minority on not liking his day off today. He is finally starting to swing a good bat and Tito takes him out of the lineup. I understand he needs the rest but he and Clay Buchholz both need the confidence. (insert Tito's saying of it's a marathon not a sprint here...but there is something about him and Clay both in dire need of getting on a role that makes me think he should be in there)

  • Looks like Julio Lugo will return by Sept. 1 given his progress from a quad injury.....you're right, who cares. Go Jed.

Go Sox.

and just like that there has been a change in Lugo's status:....this from Extra Bases....

"Julio Lugo said he felt something pull in his left quad while sprinting in the outfield this afterrnoon and feels he might have suffered a setback from his comeback. Lugo said he was scheduled to start a rehab assignment on Monday in Triple-A, but said, "I shut it down today and I'll see how it feels tomorrow. I felt I was getting really close and now this."....

again...you're right, who cares, go Jed.

Any chance he just doesn't want to come back and have it evident that he's lost his job?

I think that is a possibility but unlikely. He seemed very intent on making it back for September and there have been reports that he would be ok with serving as the "super utility guy" for the remainder of the season if the Sox looked to move him next year.

Tough call, either way, i'm not too worried.

I am worried about the Red Sox and their lack of pitching consistency...an 11-5 score doesn't sit well with me.
